Kristen
Anderson is the Director of the Case Analysis Division with the National Center
for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC.) She joined NCMEC in 2005 as the Supervisor of the Case
Analysis Unit, following a law enforcement career in Washington State, where she
worked through various patrol and collateral assignments, including crime-scene
technician, defensive tactics instructor, and School Resource Officer. From 1999-2005 she served as the Chief
of Police in the City of Port Townsend.
In 2006 she was tasked to create and implement the Special Analysis Unit
and Sex Offender Tracking Team. At
that time she also became NCMEC’s liaison to the United States Marshals Service
(USMS) to support their Adam Walsh Act/sex-offender-apprehension initiative. Kristen has been a frequent
presenter/trainer for USMS and NCMEC across the United States and
internationally regarding sex offenders and related child-victimization
issues. She frequently interacts
with the media to provide data and statistical information and as a
subject-matter expert, and she represents NCMEC live each week on CNN.com’s
weekly feature, “Find the Children.”
