Matthew D’Emic

Matthew J. D'Emic is a New York State judge assigned to the Kings County Supreme Court.   He has presided over the Brooklyn Domestic Violence Court since 1997 and the Brooklyn Mental Health Court since 2002.  Both were the first of their kind in the state.  He also conducts all incompetency proceedings in Brooklyn.  He has been recognized for his work in domestic violence by the Brooklyn Women's Bar Association and the Lawyers Committee against Domestic Violence and for his work in mental health by NAMI and the New York State Psychiatric Association, among others.  Judge D'Emic also received the leadership award from the Kings County Courts' Gender Fairness Committee and was the Kings County Criminal Bar Association's Judge of the Year in 2007.
