Human Trafficking/Modern Slavery: Investigation, Prosecution, and Advocacy
This workshop will be an in-depth look at human trafficking from three different vantage points and three different disciplines. In addition to examining the nitty-gritty of the crime, emphasis will be made on what the shortcomings and problems are in prosecution, legislation, investigation, and public awareness.

Logan Clarke
Logan Clarke and Clarke International Investigations Task Force have investigated and solved some of the most noted cases in the United States involving every situation from high-profile homicides to airline disasters. Worldwide cases have taken him to the Middle East, Asia, Central America and Europe for business and private clients from all walks of life. He operates internationally, from a diplomatic level down to individual problems. Mr. Clarke was the recipient of the World Investigators Network Investigator of the Year Award in Dublin, Ireland in 1997 for his outstanding achievements in the investigative field and is currently their District Governor for the Western United States. He is a former District Governor for the California Association of Licensed Investigators, the largest detective organization in the world. One of his specialties is the “Reverse Sting” -- tracking down con men that have defrauded millions of dollars and stinging them to recover the money for his client. In addition, the C.I.I. Task Force has retrieved more than 250 children throughout the world and is considered one of the foremost authorities in this field.
Dottie LasterDottie Laster, MA began work on human trafficking while earning her Master's degree at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. She also studied international conflict resolution at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary and at the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, France. Subsequently she coordinated with the YMCA in Houston, Texas in their program to train law enforcement and provide direct assistance to victims of human trafficking. She was appointed as an original member of the U. S. Attorney's Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance, which consists of F.B.I., Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, U.S. State Department's Diplomatic Security Service, Texas Rangers, Houston Police Department, Department of Labor, and YMCA. Recently she contributed to greater education on these issues by working on a documentary about commercial sex trafficking in the United States - "Cargo: Innocence Lost." Dottie has also provided technical and/or consulting assistance for other programs.
Robin Sax
Robin Sax is a former Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney who specialized in prosecuting sex crimes against children for over fifteen years. Robin has been a guest analyst and legal commentator for several national television shows, drawing upon her vast experience as a prosecutor, child advocate and parenting expert. She has appeared on many hi-profile programs, including CNN Larry King Live, HLN Nancy Grace, NBC Today Show, the Dr. Phil Show, Tyra Banks, FOX Geraldo at Large, and many others. Robin is a lecturer at the UCLA School of Law and Attorney Assistant Training Program.
