Interview and
Interrogation in Homicide Cases
Suspect confessions are powerful evidence in prosecuting criminal defendants. This workshop will examine how investigators can use specific strategies and techniques in conducting both the interview and subsequent interrogation of suspects in different types of homicide investigations. The presenter will discuss ways to overcome the suspect’s initial denials and obtain full confessions of their crimes. Some of the strategies employed by defense attorneys to supress their client’s confessions will be examined as well as ways the investigator can defeat these attempts both in the interrogation room and in the courtroom.
