Interviewing the Victim
of Domestic Violence
This workshop will review
the unique challenges encountered by law enforcement officers when interviewing
victims of domestic violence.
Since traditional interviewing techniques are not always effective with
victims of domestic violence, this presentation will provide attendees with
information on how to modify their questioning and interviewing techniques to
obtain the best and most detailed information from a domestic violence
victim. Additionally this workshop
will address the following: the unique language of domestic violence victims;
(2) comprehension of the nonverbal nuances displayed by victims; and (3)
identification of the subjective criteria that impedes a thorough
investigation. This workshop is an
innovative approach to interviewing crime victims and is not the usual Who,
What, Where, When and Why, interviewing concepts.
