Cary Piel graduated from the University of Texas for both undergraduate and law school and is board certified in criminal law.  He served as an infantry officer in the United States Army before his law career.  Cary has practiced as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney.  He was Denton County's first designated family violence prosecutor and served as Chief of the Family Violence Unit.  He is currently a district court chief in the Denton County Criminal District Attorney's Office.
